Every morning each one of us comes to work to provide for our families and ourselves with the expectation that we will return home at the end of the day unharmed – and, ideally – just a bit wealthier and wiser for our effort.
This expectation is a reasonable one; and yet, like the rights we enjoy as citizens, our expectation of safety must be earned anew every day through constant vigilance, awareness and active participation.
It is true that safety – real safety – is hard work. But, the rewards of working and living safely cannot be overstated. That is why the theme for IRWIN’s 2008 Safety Rewards Program is: “What Safety Really Means.” It is a year-long examination of all the many rewards we reap as a result of our actions, awareness, attitude and accountability.
Every quarter eligible work crews will receive a special, limited-edition IRWIN branded gift, specially chosen as a symbol to remind us what safety really means. At the end of the year, qualifying employees will receive an annual safety reward to enjoy, to share with family and friends, and to reflect upon why we work so hard to keep ourselves, our loved ones and our coworkers safe.
